Sorgiovanni Success at Halliday

Posted by Juliette Sorgiovanni on

The Sorgiovanni family has long been a proud name in Western Australian wine, and this year, our passion, dedication, and commitment to excellence have been recognised on the national stage.

On 21 August 2025, the highly anticipated Halliday Wine Companion results were released, and we emerged with some outstanding accolades.

This recognition is a testament to the family’s vision of producing wines that reflect the unique terroirs of Western Australia and the dedication of the people behind them.

A 5-Star Distinction for Fishbone Wines

The highlight of this year’s results is the celebration of Fishbone Wines as a coveted 5-star winery status

This accolade is awarded to wineries that consistently produce wines of exemplary quality and is considered one of the highest honours in the Halliday Wine Companion.

For us, this recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to crafting wines that are not only premium in quality but also approachable, vibrant, and a true reflection of the Margaret River region.

Over the years, Fishbone has become known for producing modern, expressive wines that appeal to a wide audience while maintaining exceptional standards.

Halliday 5-star winery status is a milestone that places Fishbone among Australia’s top wineries and acknowledges the hard work of the entire winemaking team.

Joseph River Estate Chardonnay 2023 – GOLD, 95 Points

Among the standout wines recognised in the 2026 edition of the Companion is the Joseph River Estate Chardonnay 2023, which was awarded Gold with 95 points.

The Joseph River Estate label has always been associated with elegance, balance, and refinement, and this Chardonnay embodies all those qualities and more.

Grown in the famed Margaret River region, the 2023 vintage showcases pristine fruit character, subtle oak integration, and a lingering finish that speaks to both winemaking craftsmanship and the exceptional conditions of the vintage.

Halliday’s reviewers described the wine as a Chardonnay of “remarkable poise and depth,” highlighting its bright acidity, layers of stone fruit, and delicate texture. For wine lovers, this accolade serves as confirmation of Joseph River Estate’s place among Australia’s most respected premium producers.

Fishbone Black Label Rosé 2024 – GOLD, 95 Points

Another jewel in the crown is the Fishbone Black Label Rosé 2024, also awarded Gold with 95 points.

This vibrant rosé reflects the modern Australian palate—fresh, crisp, and beautifully balanced. The 2024 vintage is bursting with red berry aromatics, delicate florals, and a refreshing, dry finish that makes it both versatile and food friendly.

The recognition in the Halliday Companion underscores Fishbone’s expertise in producing wines that are not only enjoyable upon release but also demonstrate finesse and structure.

Rosé has grown to become one of the most exciting categories in Australian wine, and Fishbone’s achievement with the Black Label Rosé further cements its reputation as a leader in the style.

A Family Legacy of Excellence

To us, these accolades are more than just points and stars; they represent years of hard work in the vineyard, careful attention in the winery, and a passion for sharing the beauty of Western Australian wines with the world.

The 2026 Halliday Wine Companion results mark an exciting chapter for Sorgiovanni Family Wines.

As the Sorgiovanni family looks to the future, our commitment remains unchanged: to craft wines of integrity, character, and joy that can be enjoyed around tables across Australia and beyond.

Whether you’re a seasoned wine collector or someone who simply enjoys a glass at the end of the day, there has never been a better time to discover the wines of Sorgiovanni Family Wines.
