Harvey River Estate 2023 Montepulciano
With roots deeply planted in Harvey, the orchards and dairies of our family's farming history are now the backdrop to picturesque rows of vines at Harvey River Estate. It was in 1928 on the banks of the Harvey River that the first seeds were sown. Almost 100-years and three generations later our family’s love of the land and region is as fervent as ever.
The wines are delectable and bright shining examples of the Geographe Wine Region. The vivid open slopes of vines are a chorus of alternative varieties and classics that sing the arias of our Italian heritage. Winemaker Stuart Pierce is a purist, and takes a minimal intervention approach to winemaking. Dedicated to creating wines of place, people and vintage.
TASTING NOTES
Dark purple to the core with a thin violet rim, this wine opens with intense dark fruits layered over earthy undertones and gentle spice lift. Dry and full bodied, the palate delivers rich, velvety tannins that frame the same deep fruit characters found on the nose, leading into a long and persistent finish.
WINEMAKING
Hand picked and matured in seasoned French oak barrels to provide an extended maturation period of 14-months for this heavier style of dry red wine.
